4th Annual Day at the Races

Alumni in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania...or anywhere in the Northeast are invited to join us September 27 at Monmouth Park in New Jersey for our 4th Annual Day at the Races. Our day will begin at 12 noon in the trackside picnic area for a buffet lunch provided by the Class of 1973. Racing begins at 12:50 pm. Tickets are just $30 per person. . “Education and the Law” Seminar
St. Thomas University School of Leadership Studies and the President’s Board of Advisors Alumni Committee will host a panel seminar “Education and the Law” on Friday, October 24, 2008., from 9:00am-12:00pm in Convocation Hall. A group of experts will discuss issues ranging from school bullying and vouchers to disability laws and budget cuts. Panelists will include elected officials, legal experts, school administrators and representation from parent and teacher groups. All Alumni are welcome to attend as well St. Thomas University friends and supporters. This is a complimentary event which includes a continental breakfast and a networking opportunity. New York Chapter Fall Social

Alumni in New York and the surrounding area are invited to join us in Manhattan for our Fall social. Hosted by St. Thomas University Board of Trustees member and President of U.S. Trust Corporation Frances Sevilla Sacasa, the social will give alumni the opportunity to meet and network with alumni living in the northeastern U.S., talk with STU administrators, including University President Monsignor Franklyn Casale, and enjoy a presentation from Ms. Sevilla Sacasa entitled "Managing Your Finances in Today’s Economy". The program will be held Wednesday, October 29 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at the New York Athletic Club, located at 180 Central Park South. “Sports and Ethics” – Speaker Art Schlichter
On November 7, 2008 – the Law School will be hosting a talk by Art Schlichter – the theme will be “Sports and Ethics.” Art Schlichter is a former All American Quarterback at The Ohio State University from 1978 – 1981. He was a first round draft choice of the Indianapolis Colts in 1982 and gambled on NFL games. Schlichter ended up owing over a million dollars and spent 10 years in prison for forgery, fraud and theft. CLEs are available for lawyers who attend. 2009 St. Thomas University Leadership Golf Tournament
St. Thomas University will host its second annual “mega” golf tournament at Jacaranda Country Club. With more than 250 golfers playing on two 18-hole courses, the STU Leadership Golf Tournament plans to raise more than $125,000 for institutional scholarships. The event will benefit both the Main University Schools and College and the Law School.
The Tournament will begin at 8:00am with a Shotgun Start and will have a scramble format. There will be a "19th Hole Luncheon" and golf silent auction. To participate it costs $250 a player or $1000 a corporate foursome. There are also Birdie Sponsors at $2500; Eagle Sponsors at $5000 and Platinum Sponsors at $10,000; and Presenting Sponsor at $25,000. All Golf participants will receive a special gift bag. .
