STU STANDARDS was created to provide our employees with key information regarding risk management, ethics, environmental compliance, emergency management, and other important compliance related matters.  Keeping you abreast of policies, compliance, and everything in-between is the goal.

In a compliance blog post, the author suggested that the philosophical thought experience – If a tree falls in the forest, and there’s no one to hear it, does it make a sound, highlights the essence of compliance.  The correlation between the quote and compliance, underscores the reality of when compliance works, it is rendered invisible.  When policies are followed, everything falls into place.  Things go array when policies are not followed or when the policies do not exist. With that said, policies are not crafted to become barriers.  They are crafted to protect you and the organization.
