Dr. Jose Pombo joined St. Thomas University in Fall 2023, after serving as a Visiting Instructor in English at Barry University. Previously, Dr. Pombo worked as a teacher educator for the Teaching and Learning Department at Florida International University teaching Social Studies methodology courses to third- and fourth-year pre-service teachers. Additionally, he reorganized and managed Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus’ Writing Center for several years.
Dr. Pombo possesses a B.A in History and a Doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction. As part of his doctoral research, he created an organizational framework for contextual or document analysis called the HPST Framework. His dissertation is titled, “The HPST Framework: A Case Study on an Organizational Tool Used to Understand Historical Narrative in a Social Studies Classroom” and was published in 2019.
Dr. Pombo has published several other articles, namely: “The HPST Framework: Learning About Iran through Historical Inquiry for Students” in 2018, and “Using the HPST Framework to Improve Reading Comprehension with Students with Intellectual Disabilities in a University Setting” in 2016. During his spare time, Dr. Pombo is an avid foodie who loves to cook and is currently writing a memoire/cookbook on the women of his family.
