Announcing the new online Educational Specialist degree (Ed.S.) in Administration that is scheduled to launch in the Fall 2024 semester at St. Thomas University, pending final approval by SACS-COC. This degree program is designed for students to gain an understanding of leadership and administration to prepare them for careers and advanced training in school leadership, and management.

The Ed.S. degree is positioned between master’s and doctoral degrees. The 30-credit curriculum provides students with specialized knowledge and skills in the areas of critical thinking, analysis of systems and organizational structures, research that maximizes student learning and demonstrations of achievement outcomes, facilitates staff members ability to drive instructional practice for student success, building collaborative school cultures, and creating a community of stakeholders.

Program Outcomes

Once a student has completed the Ed.S. program with a 3.0 G.P.A. (they will not only graduate with an Ed.S. degree and receive a hood that is sized between a master’s and doctoral hood), they will also be eligible to seamlessly enter into to the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership program with any one of three specializations: 1) Sports Administration, 2) Instructional Design & Online Learning, and 3) Administration.

Such graduates will bring their 30 credit Ed.S. credits directly into the doctoral program where they will complete an additional 30 credits of doctoral work that includes a doctoral dissertation.

In summary, with a total of 60 credits beyond the master’s degree, graduates will earn both Ed.S. and Ed.D. degrees.
