St. Thomas University School of Law won the First Runner Up Brief Award at the 2019 National Tax Moot Court Competition; sponsored by the Tax Section of the Florida Bar and the University of Florida.
Tax Law students and competitors Arlene J. Williams, 2L and Yung Truong, 3L accepted the award on behalf of the team at Tax Moot Court Competition Awards Ceremony Banquet on March 9, 2019.
Our award winning team was coached by Adjunct Professor and St. Thomas Law alumnus Francoise Blanco and founding Professor of the Tax Law program, Mark J. Wolff. Ms. Williams and Ms. Truong were assisted by research assistants Christian Batallas (2L), Jessie Betancourt(2L), Robert Martin (2L), Norberto Rodriguez (2L), Alejandro Velez (2L), Daniella Gonzalez (2L), and Brandon Chuck (3L).
The competition was the law school’s first year competing at the National Tax Moot Court Competition.
The Tax Section of The Florida Bar hosts this National Tax Moot Court Competition annually, and invites students from law schools across the country to compete while demonstrating their written brief and oral argument skills. This opportunity also allows law students to sharpen and develop their legal skills while networking with attorneys and other luminaries in the legal field.
