Congratulations to the St. Thomas Law Trial Team – champions of the 2019 Florida National Trial Advocacy Tournament.
This past weekend, St. Thomas Law Trial Team participated in the Florida National Trial Advocacy Tournament competing against law schools from across the country. The competition was set up with two preliminary rounds, quarterfinals, semi-finals, and finals.
In the quarterfinal round, the team successfully went up against Fordham, UNLV and Florida Coastal before advancing to the semi-finals ranked #1.
In the semi-final round, they once again beat the team from Fordham advancing to the final round against Barry University. Not only was the team victorious against Barry Law, but 2L Nohary Quesada was named Best Advocate. This is St. Thomas Law’s second national title this year.
The St. Thomas Law competitors were Carolina Del Campo, Noharys Quesada, Amanda Gomez and Melissa Respeto. They were coached by Katerine Lopez-Espinal, Jeff James, Leslie Vega and Gabriela Espaillat and supervised by Trial Advocacy professor and St. Thomas Law alum, Houson Lafrance.
