For the first time, St. Thomas University welcomed Roxanne Vargas and Sheli Muñiz to campus for NBC6’s College Week. Every year, for one week, NBC6 travels to different college campuses across South Florida to showcase the great educational resources and programs available across the region.
This year, STU was chosen as one of the 5 universities featured and showcased their Athletics programs highlighting the launch of both a new football team and marching band. STU President, David A. Armstrong was joined by the Head Football Coach, William Rychel, cheerleaders, the dance team and the new marching band who gave a live demonstration on camera.
In addition, STU was recently ranked #1 in Top Performers on Social Mobility for regional universities in the south by U.S. News & World Report 2020 Best Colleges. This ranking measures the graduation rates of students who receive federal Pell Grants (typically students from households with annual income of less than $50,000) and average first year retention rates.
“There is a lot of excitement and renewed energy at STU,” said President David A. Armstrong. “We are delighted to be a part of the NBC6 Collegeweek segment and will continue to demonstrate that the Bobcats are gaining momentum, and we are doing great things for our region.”
