Janet M. Huxley, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, joined St. Thomas University as a nursing instructor in Fall of 2018. In 2021, she added the role of Simulation Lab Coordinator to her duties to augment STU Nursing students’ experience and ability to provide quality care to patients upon graduation. Her passion for nursing and education began with her experience as a nursing student. She was guided and nurtured by excellent faculty and, following their example, strives to do the same for STU Nursing Students. She began her fabulous nursing career by earning an Associate of Science in Nursing from Broward College and obtaining initial licensure as a registered nurse in 2008. She continued to pursue nursing knowledge and professional growth by graduating from Barry University and earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2014), all while maintaining her role as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Memorial Miramar. In 2018, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing, specializing in Family Nurse Practitioner, and obtained board certification and licensure in Florida. She is pursuing a doctoral degree and anticipates graduating in December 2023 with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.
