Julie Menendez joined St. Thomas University in 2018 as an adjunct Clinical Instructor in the College of Health Sciences & Technology School of Nursing. In this role, Prof. Menendez planned clinical experiences and provided direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students in the clinical setting. She then transitioned to the role of an adjunct Didactic Instructor for generic BSN, core nursing courses in 2021, where she assisted in developing and implementing curricula for classroom learning. Finally, since 2022, her current role is that of an instructor and Director of the online RN-BSN program. Through this role, she provides regular oversight of program curriculum, data collection, course outcomes, and program and course evaluations. Prof. Menendez is a regular participant in STU’s Center for Teaching, Research, and Learning Excellence (CRTLE) Professional Development Activities and member of the following STU committees: Nursing Academic Integrity Committee, Program Evaluation Committee, and Curriculum Committee.
Prof. Menendez has acquired experience in nursing education with several accredited nursing school programs since 2012. She has been an ANCC-certified Nurse Practitioner since 2017 and a licensed Registered Nurse since 2014. Her MSN from Florida International University was completed for the Family Nurse Practitioner track. Prof. Menendez’s background includes interprofessional experience as a support specialist in undergraduate and graduate nursing simulation; RN in PICU, NICU, and CICU specialties; travel wellness RN; undergraduate clinical nursing instructor; student learning specialist in undergraduate nursing; academic coach in undergraduate, online nursing courses; on-grounds didactic nursing instructor for generic BSN core courses; and online RN-BSN nursing instructor.
